The main problem with home cast figures is mould lines. You have to spent a lot more time removing them and particular where the ingate metal pice is attached. But it's a fun and rewarding process when the miniature is finally done.
I also tried out a few new painting techniques and use of different types of paint. All the metal was done with enamels and the rest with artist oils over acrylics. The result could have been better, but the artist oils are a specially hard to master.

Wow, great job home-casting. I never sprang for the 'best' metal, but even with relatively good lead/tin mixes I always found it difficult to get good casts, even after venting the molds. Maybe the metal is a bigger deal than I thought. Because I didin't get anywhere near that level of detail.
SvaraRaderaThanks. I'll think the quality of the metal is important. I'v tried using lower quality and old junk metal my self and couldn't even get decent results from 40 or even 54 mm miniature molds. But it takes time and many re-casts and a lot of venting to get there.
